Boozy Hot Chocolate

You’re 7 years old and school just announced you had a snow day. You spend 3 hours outside building a snow fort and you can no longer feel your fingers. You run inside, pull off your boots, peel off your snow pants and take off your hat, mittens and coat. Mom brings you hot chocolate with marshmallows and you sit on the couch while the fire warms you up. Life is good.

Now imagine that same hot chocolate, but with the added warmth and flavors of some booze.

Yes, life is good.

INGREDIENTS

1 cup whole milk

2 squares unsweetened bakers chocolate

1/4 cup brown sugar

Pinch of cinnamon

Pinch of nutmeg

Dash of vanilla extract

Tiny pinch of salt

1 ounce pour of favorite liqueur (we like Grand Mariner)

1 ounce favorite whiskey (preferably bourbon or rye) do not use scotch

RECIPE

1. In a small saucepan warm the milk and add your spices and sugar

2. Add the chocolate and melt, do not boil the milk.

3. With a whisk or a stick blender emulsify the milk and chocolate together

4. Heat to desired temp and take off the stove, add your alcohol and whisk or stick blender again.

5. Serve immediately with either marshmallows or whipped cream
