About Home plate

Welcome to Home Plate. Our home is your home, so please browse around and make yourself comfortable.Early on, in the kitchen with our grandmothers, we’ve learned that a little extra love and time can go a long way. They are our biggest inspirations for every dish we make and always have in mind – except now we are using measurements instead of “oh, just a pinch, dear!”

We believe food is a connection to others and to ourselves. It’s personal, yet approachable for everyone. From dinner dates to late night drives and road trips, food is something we plan our days around. We can perfectly describe what an apple pie smells like and what it tastes like. We can define the spices and narrow in on the salt to sugar ratio in the pastry dough… And if your mouth just watered, you belong here.

We’re all home chefs and we want to simplify the cooking process. From straightforward recipes to easy to read directions, our goal is to have you cooking dishes you’ve never thought possible. We’re right here with you, because food is meant to be loved and definitely shared

Homeplate Team

Home Plate was born in the kitchen. In it is a family of food lovers and the love they share for creating dishes. An Italian family and a Greek family coming together. In October, 2017 to be exact. You already know the food will be unbelievable, not to mention, the stories that will come!

Evan is the Chef and Food Mastermind here at Home Plate. He’s a culinary wiz and graduate from the Culinary Institute of America. Growing up in a Greek household, he learned the importance of ingredients and how spices can play up a dish. In the kitchen with his Yiayia, he was shown the precise technique of rolling pita dough for Spanakopita and was passed down secret family recipes. This turned into a master technique for perfectly rolled dough, which he learned was key to making delicious breads, pies and pastas.

Evan has worked at renowned restaurants such as Morimoto, Thyme, The Harvest, Le Maison and Loafers Bakery – all in New York. When he’s not in the kitchen, Evan is a Flight Medic at a New York based hospital.

Allie works the camera and is behind the scenes of the social media accounts. She also helps Evan as the Sous-Chef. where her love for food came from cooking with her Nana and Mom. Recipes were written down on little kitchen notes and ingredients were bought at the local Italian butcher.

Traditions with food… the smells and memories captured became engraved as staples in the kitchen.

Together, along with some help from family recipes, they’ve created Home Plate.
